Vegetable garden

Bardia Public School hopes to resume our vegetable garden project when we have our new school.

Then we will have has a six bed vegetable garden in which each class plants vegetables of their choosing to grow. The garden involves the students from planning to the production of crops, with learning opportunities across all curriculum areas.

Growing and Learning - our school vegetable garden enables the students to:

  • Care for other living things
  • Learn ecological principles
  • Experience the joy of nature
  • Experience real life problem solving in all KLAs
  • Be physically active and make healthy choices
  • Taste the efforts of their labour.

"Children are born with a sense of wonder and an affinity for Nature. Properly cultivated, these values can mature into ecological literacy, and eventually into sustainable patterns of living." Zenobia Barlow
